I have a bookcase of already-read and very well-loved books with which I can’t seem to part. You know the ones. The books that spoke to you, that you savored while reading and thought about long after you finished the book. But that was largely before I had kids. These days, I am trying to purge extra things from my house, not add more to it! And that includes new books. I am hungry to start reading again but I just can’t justify adding more paper to my bookshelf, especially when part of my life’s mission is to cut down on waste. I love this Calibre eBook Software!

While I am really excited about so many new e-books out there and electronic versions being offered of all new book releases, it’s so hard to keep track of everything. I mean, WHERE do you keep your e-books? Where can you view them by something other than name. I am a visual person. For lack of something tangible to hold and look at, I need to see the book cover online to get excited about reading it.
This is why Calibre, the free e-book management software for Windows, Mac and Mobile is so great! You CAN see the book covers when you are browsing your library. You can sort the books into categories and pick and choose what’s next to read – it’s an actual virtual bookshelf.
The e-book management software that makes it possible to view your books while browsing your virtual bookshelf.
Calibre manages your e-book collection for you. It is designed around the concept of the logical book, i.e., a single entry in your library that may correspond to actual e-book files in several formats.
Calibre can sort the books in your library by: Title, Author, Date added, Date published, Size, Rating, Series, etc.
You can easily search your book collection for a particular book. Calibre supports searching any and all of the fields mentioned above. You can construct advanced search queries by clicking the helpful “Advanced search” button to the left of the search bar.
Calibre can automatically fetch news from websites or RSS feeds, format the news into a ebook and upload to a connected device. The ebooks include the full versions of the articles, not just the summaries. Some of the supported sites include The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Time, Newsweek, The Guardian and ESPN.
