Have you ever gone to the grocery store for a week’s worth of food and felt overwhelmed by the cost? If you plan accordingly and go in with a list, it’s really not as daunting as it seems. I like to go every two weeks personally, but sometimes I don’t do healthy meal plans for more than one week. I like to get what is on sale and go from there, but this is a good base plan to start from. With this template, you can create some really fabulous healthy meal plans for $50 a week AND keep your family happy. This is, of course, for a family of 5, and should give you some leftovers at least for mom or dad to take to work with them.
Healthy Meal Plans for a Family of 5
Each week I use the same template but switch up the meal ideas a bit according to what is on sale. You CAN create healthy meal plans with quick and easy weeknight meal ideas that kids love!
Red and White Lasagana
My daughter loves lasagna and she loves alfredo, often asking me to mix red and white sauce for her spaghetti. This combination made for a very yummy lasagna! I followed the recipe as is (except for using cottage cheese instead of ricotta) and used 1/2 cup of Newman’s Own Alfredo Sauce on top and then covered that with a layer of cheese. I made two small lasagnas and put on in the freezer. This is the perfect size for my family so we don’t end up throwing away leftovers.
