Another one of my goals for 2015 (a.k.a. New Year Resolutions) is to read more. I have joined a local book club and I will be checking off the new books to read in my goodreads account. I love goodreads! Join me here.
The Best Books to Read
When I was a kid I used to devour books. My mom would take my brother and me to the library on the weekends while she was studying for her master’s degree and I would return home with a mountain of books to read. What an adventure I would go on when I read those books as a kid! Now my reading is a different sort of adventure. It’s more of an escape from mommyhood for even a few minutes. It allows me the sort of adventure that I don’t experience in my daily life as a mom.
It’s also so important to show kids how reading is enjoyable. Monkey see, monkey do! They will copy what us as parents show them. The only way to hook children on reading for pleasure is to encourage them to read for pleasure. That means allowing them to choose books that interest them and then letting them to read at their own pace.

A Story of Soulmates, Love and Death – Soul Sessions Book Review
A book lying idle on a shelf is wasted ammunition. Like money, books must be kept in constant circulation… A book is not only a friend, it makes friends for you. When you have possessed a book with mind and spirit, you are enriched. But when you pass it on you are enriched threefold.
– Henry Miller, The Books in My Life
