Essential Oils

Pamper yourself with these easy homemade bath salts, or make them up to give as gifts. Simply put them in decorative glass jars and tie a ribbon around them, and they will look like they came from an expensive spa!

To make bath salts, combine all ingredients in a sealed container and shake vigorously to combine. You can add more or less essential oils according to preference. You can also add more or less food coloring, depending on preference.

Remember that both fragrance and color will be diluted when added to the bath. You can also create your own essential oil bath salt recipes by combining Epsom salts with a little sea salt, your favorite essential oils, and a few drops of food coloring. If you like, you can add a few tablespoons of baking soda to give the water a silky feel.

Mandarin Orange Bath Salt

1 cup Epson salts
¼ cup sea salt
6 drops mandarin essential oil
6 drops orange food coloring

Lavender Bath Salt

1 cup Epson salts
½ cup sea salt
2 tablespoons baking soda
8 drops lavender essential oil
5 drops red food coloring
2 drops blue food coloring

Vanilla Bath Salt

1 cup Epson salts
¼ cup sea salt
2 tablespoons baking soda
7 drops vanilla essential oil
2 drops yellow food coloring

Lavender-Vanilla Bath Salt

1 cup Epson salts
½ cup sea salt
2 tablespoons baking soda
4 drops lavender essential oil
3 drops vanilla essential oil
5 drops red food coloring
2 drops blue food coloring

Patchouli Bath Salt

1 cup Epson salts
¼ cup sea salt
7 drops patchouli essential oil
6 drops green food coloring

Eucalyptus Bath Salt

1 cup Epson salts
½ cup sea salt
5 drops eucalyptus essential oil
2 drops pine or spruce essential oil
8 drops green food coloring

Jasmine Bath Salt

½ cup Epson salts
1 cup sea salts
5 drops jasmine essential oil
2 drops sandalwood essential oil
4 drops blue food coloring
2 drops green food coloring

Rose Bath Salts

1 cup Epson salts
¼ cup sea salt
2 tablespoons baking soda
6 drops rose essential oil
6 drops red food coloring

Citrus Bath Salts

1 cup Epson salts
½ cup sea salt
4 drops lemon essential oil
2 drops orange or grapefruit essential oil
4 drops yellow food coloring
2 drops orange food coloring

Sandalwood Bath Salt

1 cup Epson salts
½ cup sea salt
1 tablespoon baking soda
5 drops sandalwood essential oil
1 drop myrrh essential oil
4 drops green food coloring
2 drops blue food coloring

Forest Green Bath Salt

1 cup Epson salts
½ cup sea salt
4 drops pine essential oil
2 drops spruce essential oil
10 drops green food coloring

Relaxation Bath Salts I

1 cup Epsom salts
¼ cup sea salts
2 tablespoons baking soda
5 drops Roman chamomile essential oil
2 drops atlas cedarwood essential oil
8 drops yellow food coloring

Relaxation Bath Salts II

1 cup Epsom salts
¼ cup sea salts
2 tablespoons baking soda
5 drops lavender essential oil
2 drops Roman chamomile essential oil
4 drops blue food coloring

Bath Salts for Cold and Flu

1 cup Epsom salts
½ cup sea salt
4 drops eucalyptus essential oil
2 drops lemon essential oil
6 drops green food coloring
2 drops yellow food coloring

Adding fun to bathtime is easy through the addition of bath salts. You can make them at home with the application of a few easy steps, and it is difficult to ruin the formula. Salt and fragrance make the salts that you are after. Try out different combinations of fragrances and salts and see what works best for you.
