It’s mid-winter up here in New England and my lips do not like it! My skin is perpetually dry and my lips are no exception. But thanks to this Tea Tree Oil Lip Balm they aren’t as dry as they usually are every day. This recipe is so great, too, because you can literally use any container you have to store it in! Check out the other tea tree uses here as well!
Tea Tree Oil Lip Balm Recipe
You have to try this recipe – I love Burt’s Bees lip balm and this one is so much like it. First start with some beeswax pastilles.
Then add some shea butter and coconut oil and melt it in microwave or on a double burner.
I love adding peppermint and tea tree oil to my lip balm. Tea tree oil is so healing and can relieve chapped lips. I don’t love the smell, however, so I like to add peppermint or lavender with tea tree oil.
Tea Tree Oil Lip Balm
2 tablespoons beeswax pastilles
2 tablespoons shea butter
2 tablespoons coconut oil
15 drops peppermint essential oil
15 drops tea tree oil
- Melt beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil in a double boiler or small glass bowl over a small pot of boiling water, stirring constantly until melted.
- Remove pan from heat but keep over the still-hot water to keep the mixture melted.
- Add essential oils to your preference.
- Let tubes sit at room temperature for several hours until cooled and completely hardened before capping them.
You can use either the lip balm tubes like I used, or you can use these cute little jars! They are available on Amazon here for super cheap.
