Many people suffer from low magnesium levels and don’t realize how easy it is to fix this problem! There are so many health benefits of magnesium and a Magnesium Soak is a relaxing and easy way to deliver it to your body.
What is a magnesium soak?
Soaking your body or feet in a warm bath with epsom salts allows the magnesium to absorb into your skin more quickly than with daily supplements.
Do magnesium soaks work?
Magnesium is readily absorbed through the skin and is distributed into the muscles and blood stream. Soaking in it is a great way to boost your magnesium levels and promote relaxation.
Magnesium is an amazing resource for stress relief since it helps produce serotonin which is a mood elevating chemical found in the brain.
Transdermal absorption of magnesium in comparison to oral application is more effective due to better absorption and fewer side effects as it bypasses the gastrointestinal tract.
National Institutes of Health
One of the first studies on transdermal magnesium absorption was published by the naturopathic doctor and founder of the American Holistic Medical Association Norman Shealy, M.D. Ph.D in 2000. He was an early advocate for the particular benefits of transdermal applications of magnesium [12]. Shealy argued that a magnesium deficiency can be compensated by transdermal application within 4 to 6 weeks, whereas an oral supplementation is effective only after 4 to 12 months. 2017 study
