Do you know why you need to use sulfate free body wash? I have been on a mission for a few years now trying to rid my home of these bath and body products that have sulfates. It’s actually very easy, you just need to know what to look for and then you can enjoy sulfate free living!
Why Sulfate Free Body Wash
Just about all shampoos, shower gels and even toothpastes contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) because this is a foaming agent that gets these products to bubble and foam. Most people aren’t aware, however, that the compound irritates the skin and damages hair follicles and begins to build up in the heart, liver, brain and lungs. Over time, SLS begins to do real damage to the immune system and can even cause the various layers of the skin to separate.
One study conducted on this compound found that through prolonged use, these compounds made the skin more susceptible to absorbing carcinogens from the environment. Since carcinogens can be found everywhere from household cleaners to certain food products you really don’t want to increase vulnerability to these compounds.
Switching Over to Sulfate Free Body Wash Is Easy
Switching over to sulfate free body wash is quite easy, and you just need to read your labels. Some products can say that they are “green” but still contain SLS!
