oatmeal body wash for eczema

Homemade body wash is so simple to make, and gives you a chance to take control of what’s going on your skin and into your body! I particularly love this body wash because it’s simple to make, it’s cheaper than store-bought, and it has some nourishing ingredients to keep my skin moisturized and happy. As we head into the colder months this becomes super important for my dry skin.

The base of this moisturizing bath care for sensitive and eczema prone skinrecipe is pure liquid castile soap. I prefer to use the baby mild kind (like this) because I have a history of sensitive skin. I also feel good using this body wash on my toddler because of that, too.

Liquid Castile Soap

Castile soap is a concentrated vegetable-based soap made of ingredients you can actually pronounce. This soap is gentle on the skin and the amazing this is that it’s also effective against dirt, grease, and germs.

This incredible soap is made from nourishing oils, so it won’t strip your skin or make you feel tight and itchy when you’re done. You can use this soap for these other recipes: Homemade Sulfate Free Soap Recipe for Dishes and Tea Tree Oil Body Wash.

Oatmeal for Eczema

2015 study reports that colloidal oatmeal lotion had antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, resulting in improved:

  • skin dryness
  • scaling
  • roughness
  • itch intensity

Organic oatmeal reduces inflammation and is thought to have an antihistamine effect. According to a 2012 study, colloidal oatmeal can protect skin and soothe the itching and irritation from eczema.

Lavender Oil for Eczema

Lavender essential oil helps heal the red, dry skin associated with eczema by reducing the inflammation. Lavender oil is extremely soothing for skin conditions that involve rashes, itching, inflammation and dryness.

Almond Oil

Almond oil is an emollient, which helps the skin lock in moisture. For people with eczema this helps relieve and repair flaring skin. When skin is dried and cracking during a flare, this leaves open spaces between the cells of your skin.
