Chocolate! I love to have a piece of chocolate after a meal to cleanse my palate, don’t you? As I am eating less and less sugar, I find milk chocolate to be too sweet. Did you know real chocolate is not supposed to be sweet, but rich?

This Chocolate Peanut Butter Homemade Bread however doesn’t taste sweet. It tastes more savory, and is good with cream cheese.
Savory and rich chocolate, this is not a sweet bread, rather something you can have with coffee that is the perfect compliment.
In a large bowl, combine the warm water, yeast and raw sugar. I like to use active dry yeast, but you have to dissolve it in water before using and let it sit for five minutes to proof and make sure it’s still alive.
What is the difference between active dry yeast and instant (rapid rise) yeast?
The difference between these types of dry yeast is simple: active dry yeast has a larger granule and needs to be dissolved in water before using, while instant yeast has a more fine texture and can be mixed right into dry ingredients. (Source: Kitchn)
After the yeast has risen, stir in the peanut or almond butter. Then, slowly add in the cocoa powder and flour, 1/2 cup at a time.
Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and place in a warm spot in your kitchen to rise. I like to do this in the oven before I turn it on, especially during the winter and there are drafts, unless I am cooking and the kitchen is already warm.
When the bread has risen for an hour, remove it from the bowl and place it on a floured surface and punch down and knead well. Then incorporate the chocolate chips.
Next, form the dough into a loaf shape on your baking stone, and then cover and let rise again for 1 hour.
