Cold and Flu

If you have a cold or the flu and are congested, you can use peppermint oil to help clear up your congestion. You can do this by adding a few drops of peppermint oil to your diffuser. Run the diffuser until the room is filled with peppermint scent or until the congestion has cleared up.

Headaches

If you have a headache and need something quick to help relieve it, then try using peppermint oil. You need to apply a small amount to your temples and forehead with a carrier oil like coconut or olive oil. Then, run your hands over your face and inhale deeply through your nose for about 30 seconds or until the headache subside. You can also apply it directly on top of your chest if the headache is in that area.

Muscle Pain

Rub 2-3 drops on sore muscles or joints for relief from muscle pain. You don’t need to dilute this one because it will be quickly absorbed into the skin. If you dilute it with a carrier oil, keep it in the dark glass bottle because essential oils are photosensitive!

Acne

Acne is a common skin condition that can affect anyone. It occurs when the pores in your skin become blocked by dead skin cells or excess oil. Do not apply peppermint oil topically to the body without first diluting it in a carrier oil. Dilute the peppermint oil into a carrier oil such as olive, almond, coconut, or vegetable oil. Use one part of essential peppermint oil to three parts of the carrier oil. Peppermint essential oil can also be used in bathwater without dilution.

Add four to six drops of the peppermint oil to warm bath water and stir it well with your hand. You can also add peppermint oil to a warm footbath. Add four drops of the essential peppermint oil to a bowl of warm water and soak your feet in it for 15 minutes daily until you feel relief from your symptoms.

    Lavender oil may help treat skin conditions that involve inflammation, such as dermatitis. A 2014 study found that lavender oil can reduce skin swelling after surgery. This suggests that it may help treat any swelling condition, including inflammatory skin disorders and arthritis.
