Have you recently given birth, and still feel like an overgrown porpoise in a sea of sexy dolphins? Don’t worry; you aren’t alone. Most pregnant women and new moms experience this sensation and these negative feelings about their bodies after birth due to all the crazy changes that have happened in only the last nine to 10 months. It isn’t easy accepting the new you, what with the stretch marks, the extra fat deposits, and the seemingly saggy skin. However, these are only generally temporary things that you can take steps to improving over time.
Breastfeeding
One of the best ways you can lose your baby weight fast is by breastfeeding. Understandably, not everyone can do this, sometimes due to medical issues and whatnot. However, if you can breastfeed, it is definitely the best choice, for both you and for baby. Breastfeeding uses up hundreds of calories per hour. If you do this religiously, you will find those extra pounds almost falling off, especially in the first few weeks after delivery. This is certainly not a cure all for weight issues, though, by any means. You cannot just think that breastfeeding alone will get you down to a healthy weight. There are a lot of other steps you also need to take in order to finally see the results you want. Luckily, these other steps are just as simple.
Weight Loss Programs
Something you might not have considered before but you absolutely should is going on some kind of weight loss program or buying a weight loss kit. While these can oftentimes be pretty pricey, you can also talk to your doctors and see if they offer any for a lower price. Your physician will also be able to tell you what kind of program you should go on, what is safe for you and the baby, and why you should choose this certain route. Remember that not every choice is good for every person, so don’t go in expecting that a program that worked for your friend will also work for you. This just might not be the case. And it might take you a few tries before you find what you really like, but in the end, it is all worth it when you finally see that number on the scale begin to drop.
Daily Baby Care
Another great way you can lose weight is actually something you don’t even have to work hard at. Taking care of a baby on a daily basis is hard enough on its own. You are constantly having to pick things up, bend over, run here, walk there, jog over yonder, go up and down the steps, in and out of rooms—you get the picture. You are basically getting a full body workout every day all day long without even realizing it. You can even take this one step further by making an effort to go above and beyond the regular mommy jobs. For instance, instead of putting baby in a stroller to go inside, consider wearing a baby carrier and actually carrying your little one around with you. The extra 10 pounds or so will really give your legs, thighs, glutes, and back a great work out while also allowing you and baby some extra bonding time.
Considering all you have been through in the last nine to twelve months (give or take), you are probably tired of trying to lose weight without any success. Well, give it time, and use the above tips for the best results, and you will be feeling better sooner than you think.
