Chocolate Peanut Butter Homemade Bread

Here is a Chocolate Peanut Butter Homemade Bread Recipe that is savory and just a touch sweet - perfect for coffee or tea!

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons yeast
  • 2 Tablespoon raw sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour or more as needed
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup almond or peanut butter
  • 2 teaspoons salt to taste (omit if the peanut/almond butter is salted)
  • Add to taste - I added 1/2 cup because you don't want too much sweetness.

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, yeast and raw sugar.

  2. Let the mixture proof for 5 minutes.

  3. Stir in the peanut or almond butter.

  4. Slowly add in the cocoa powder and flour, 1/2 cup at a time.

  5. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and place in a warm spot in your kitchen to rise.

  6. Let rise for 1 hour.

  7. When the bread has risen, punch down and knead well, then incorporate the chocolate chips.

  8. Form the dough into a loaf shape on your baking stone, and then cover and let rise again for 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 450.

  1. Bake the bread for 25-35 minutes, until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
